"Because we all deserve safety"
Yep, it's the worst line in an ad that Dad U has seen lately. Since when do we enter the world with any promise of safety? It's an illusion that our modern culture has foisted on us, primarily to deal with the threat of trivial litigation. It's not that we shouldn't strive to keep our families safe, but bad things can happen in this world: That's called LIFE. The sooner we get over the fact that we are not personally in control the better.
Another disastrous consequence of the culture of fear is that modern kids have much of the fun regulated out of their lives. The end result? Stunted Childhood. Now, Dad U is not recommending that you encourage them to rip-stick down the interstate, but does suggest to teach them how to climb a tree.
"Life is either a daring adventure or nothing. Security does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than exposure" Helen Keller.
